World Cup Survivor is a last-fan-standing game with one deceptively simple rule: each matchday, pick one team you think will win — but you can never pick the same team twice.
How World Cup Survivor works
On every matchday you back a single team to win its game that day. If they win, you survive to the next round. If they draw or lose, that run is over. The catch is the no-repeats rule: once you've used a team, it's gone for the rest of your run, so you can't simply ride one favourite all tournament. The aim is to string together the longest unbroken chain of correct picks — outlast everyone and you win.
A simple strategy that goes a long way
- Don't spend your big guns early. It's tempting to open with the tournament favourites, but you'll want strong teams in reserve for the tricky later rounds. Look for a clear mismatch among the less-glamorous sides first.
- Think a few moves ahead. Before locking a pick, glance at who that team plays in future rounds. Using a strong side against a weak opponent now might be wasteful if you'll need them even more later.
- Favour certainty over value. Survivor rewards being right, not being clever — a comfortable favourite beats a risky upset pick with better "odds" of a shock.
- Mind the draw. A draw eliminates you just like a defeat, so evenly-matched games are more dangerous than they look. Lopsided fixtures are your friend.
- Check the standings first. A team already through to the next round may rest players or play with less urgency. The live group tables tell you who still needs the points.
