GOLAZO is a daily football guessing game: one mystery professional footballer is hiding on the team sheet, and you have eight guesses to name them.

How to play GOLAZO

Each day there's a single mystery player. Every time you guess a real footballer, the game tells you how close you are across four clues — so a wrong guess is never wasted; it narrows the field. Work through the hints logically and you should home in on the answer well inside your eight attempts.

What each clue tells you

• Nation — whether your guess shares the mystery player's national team, and sometimes the right confederation even when the country is wrong.
• Club — a match on current club, with near-misses for the right league or country pointing you to the right part of the map.
• Position — goalkeeper, defender, midfielder or forward, which alone rules out three-quarters of the player pool.
• Age — an arrow showing whether the mystery player is older or younger than your guess, so you can close in run by run.

Tips for a better score

Open with a well-travelled, well-known player — someone with a major nation and a big club gives you the most information from a single guess. Use the position clue early to cut the field hard, then let the nation and age arrows triangulate the rest. There's a practice mode if you want to warm up without spending the day's puzzle, and the answer resets to a fresh player every day.
