Transfer Chain is a daily football puzzle built on the "six degrees" idea: connect two footballers through the clubs and countries they share, in as few steps as possible.

How Transfer Chain works

You're given a start player and a target player. Each step, you name another footballer who is linked to your current one — and two players are linked if they were ever at the same club (at any point in their careers) or played for the same national team. Hop from player to player along those shared connections until you reach the target. Every puzzle has a par — the shortest known chain — and the goal is to match or beat it.

Tips to keep your chain short

• Aim for hubs. Players who moved between several big clubs, or who play for a major national team, connect to huge numbers of others — they're stepping stones to almost anywhere.
• Work from both ends. Think about who the target links to as well as your start point, and try to meet in the middle.
• Use nationality as a shortcut. A shared national team can jump you across leagues that never trade players directly.
• Watch for dead ends. A one-club, lower-profile player is a trap — easy to reach, hard to leave. Pass through well-travelled names instead.

The link rule is simple but the routes are not, and there's usually more than one way home. A practice mode lets you rehearse the mechanic before taking on the day's chain.
